 TRIO Chapter President, Jackie Colleran, receives Life Bridge Award from OneLegacy’s Bryan Stewart for dedication to and accomplishments in Organ Donor Awareness.

    Burbank, CA.  In a ceremony to honor donor families for their “Gift of Life”, TRIO’s Jackie Colleran was honored with OneLegacy’s Life Bridge Award for her dedication to and accomplishments in Organ Donor Awareness.  The ceremony, Fields of Gold, hosted by OneLegacy, the organ procurement organization (OPO) serving southern California, was attended by families who donated the organs of their loved ones upon their death as well as transplant recipients and members of TRIO and Jackie's family.

    In November, 1998 Jackie Colleran received her Gift of Life at UCLA after slipping into a coma when her liver failed.  Since then, Jackie has been driven by the need to promote organ donation in the Los Angeles basin and Ventura County areas.  Jackie is the President of the Ventura County/West Valley chapter of TRIO (Transplant Recipients International Organization), one of approximately twenty chapters around the United States, Italy and Japan, dedicated to providing support to families touched by the miracle of transplantation.  Jackie also helps to facilitate weekly liver transplant support group meetings at UCLA for patients that have received or are waiting for a transplant; speaks publicly about the need for organ and tissue donation, and organizes informational tables and booths at health fairs, hospitals, churches, or anywhere she can spread her message.
